Background

The Required Evidence of Operational Need for Droids Act (REOND) of 30 BBY was the Jod Military Forces and civilian Agencies version of the Right to Work & Droid Safety Act (RWDS Act) of 30 BBY. REOND forced both the military & government to show cause for the need for droids in any given situation, within several restrictions. REOND also set up the Deactivated Droid Registry & set up the Droid Enforcement & Safety Agency (DES), which would be jointly enforced by both REOND & RWDS.

The REOND Act required:

  • Droids did not replace the Jod citizen as the primary fighting force & government employee within the Kingdom of Jod and, instead, was (the droid) in a supporting role to human & alien Jod citizens.
  • Could prove that, without the droid or droids, that a or several or many Jod citizens' lives were in danger above and beyond from what he or she (a, several, or many) signed on the dotted line legally to do within the military or government
  • Could prove that the droid or droids aided in increasing effectiveness of the military or government personnel
  • Safety protocols, clear regulations, and effective contingencies are in place to handle defective, malfunctioning, sabotaged, and / or rogue droids while in the service of either the military or government.
  • All droids in the employ of the military or government had a Black Safe Box installed physically in their droid brains and uploaded on demand from personnel of the Military Office of Regulation & Safety Droid Services or once a year at a RSD Monitoring Site.
  • All droids in ownership (by military or government) had to have both the Black Star Security System and be part of the New Class Droid. All Old Class Droids (before 32 BBY) were strictly outlawed & illegal, regardless of private or business ownership and / or military or government ownership.
  • 90% of Old Class Droids in ownership (by military or government) before 30 BBY were to be destroyed. 10% of Old Class Droids were to be put into long term storage at classified sites for study, spare parts, and as a ready reserve in emergencies.
