Travel through Red Space.
A Red Rock Drive utilized Red Rock as a means to travel much like a wormhole does. The technology is a highly guarded secret by the House of Royal Intelligence, Kingdom's Navy, and Military Intelligence Corps. In practice, it can link Companion Cresh to the Outside Galaxy in a matter of weeks (2 1/2 weeks) and make travel within a galaxy along established hyperspace routes nearly instantaneously.
Red Rock Drives encase the ship it powers in a specially designed protective deflector shield & ray shield. Without such a "egg" of protection as Red Space travelers call it, a ship would simply be torn apart by the high stresses of Red Space on a ship's hull. Furthermore, ships can hide in Red Space by anchoring themselves to points along their travel via specially designed Red Rock Drive features; this is only possible due to the "egg" of protection around the starship, or else the starship would be torn apart in an instant.
The Red Rock Drive was researched, studied, and put into effect by the Special Tactics & Studies Division. The technology is only available on King I-class Cruisers, King I Configuration-Class Heavy Cruisers, King II-class Battlecruisers, and select vessels attached to Royal Command.
